The journey of Dr.Debaldev Jana on the path of Bharatanatyam started at his childhood age.
Presently involve in a new arena of research work “Multimedia Analysis of Indian Classical Dance: The Case of Bharatanatyam Adavu’s” in collaboration with Prof. Partha Pratim Das, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, India. We particularly choose Bharatanatyam (one of the eight Indian classical dance forms) for its discrete nature, well-defned geometric forms, precise body movement, suitability to capture by low-cost sensors like Kinect 1.0 and the modeling and analysis by various image processing, computer vision,machine learning algorithms and finally formulate its mathematical model and validation of observed result with the model result. To keep the problems tractable we further restrict to the Adadu’s that are formative units of Bharatanatyam.
